I realize that as parents our goal is to train our children and to love them so that one day that can be independent adults. However, Trey has decided to embark on this independence a little early. He can be a little, shall we say, clingy, so this independence is not necessarily a bad thing- just one that requires a lot of patience. He has decided that HE needs to be the one to pick out his clothes, put on his shoes, carry his plate over to the sink to clean up, and now, sit at his own table during meals.
Yesterday as I was trying to get him into the kitchen for dinner he decided to bring in his play table and chairs. He wanted them right by the big table but he wanted to eat on his own. During breakfast he started at his table, but when Charlotte sat on the table in the bumbo he wanted to be near her so he moved to his seat at the table. Plus the syrup was on the table and if he wanted to get syrup on his pancakes he decided he needed to be at the big table.
