Every Little Detail

Part of building a house is picking out the details; things like the appliances, the kitchen sink, the flooring, the faucets, the light switches, and even the door handles. The past few weeks the house is really starting to shape up. Here is a picture of the exterior of the house. They started adding on the front porch last Friday so it already looks different!

We load up into the car most evenings after dinner to go to the house site and see the progress. Charlotte is usually content to sit in the car with the windows rolled down for a breeze, but Trey likes to come inside and walk around with us.

This past weekend we made out good on some Memorial Day sales and bought all our appliances. We took the kids with us and they were so good! Living far from town we don't have time to go back and forth looking at things and trying to make a decision. After watching the ads for a few months we decided the prices were good and they had what we wanted, so we went ahead and got everything we needed. Plus the cabinet makers needed the specs for our appliances ASAP so they could start building the cabinets. Here are some of the items we purchased on Saturday.

It has not been as overwhelming as I thought it would be picking out all the details for the house. Jay and I usually agree with what we want (except for the time he wanted to go with these fancy toilets that had 2 different flushing options!) and I would say overall the house building process has been very smooth. Mainly because we have such a great contractor and all we have to do is just pick out things. For now we hae finished picking out the kitchen, all the way down to my dream farmhouse sink.
