Prince Trey

Trey often refers to himself in the third person.  However it is never just "Trey".  He either says, "Me, Trey." or "SuperTrey" or his new favorite, "Prince Trey."  He found this bucket the other day and started wearing it on his head.  Who knows why? He called himself a prince and said it was his crown.  I asked if he was prince charming to which he replied, "No I am Prince Trey."  In case you are wondering he has also called Charlotte "Princess Charlotte." I guess Jay and I know who's really in charge here :)

Yesterday we had a day off from school because we didn't have to use it as a snow makeup day.  After lunch to ensure some really good afternoon naps we went on a walk down the driveway to get the newspaper.  Our driveway is quite steep and not exactly short.  Charlotte insisted on walking the whole way down and up.  Not by herself, but holding onto someone's hands.  She doesn't like to walk anywhere by herself, and I am pretty sure as long as she can convince people to hold her hand and walk with her, she may never let go, but that's a whole other story.

She is so happy to be outside.

Check out her zebra print capris.  She is the only one in this house that can pull off that look!

Still coming...
Finally at the top and worn out!

Bowling

Last Saturday we went bowling with our Sunday School class.  There were 6 families that came and between all of us we had 8 kids between the ages of 6 and 10 months.  It was a little chaotic (what go family fun isn't!) at times, but we all had a blast.

When I tried to tell Trey we were going bowling he didn't want to go.  Then I showed him pictures of him bowling last year and he got really excited.  He kept saying, "I am going bowling with my friends." the whole way there.

Charlotte was not in the best of moods this day.  I am not sure why.  Maybe it was that we wouldn't let her crawl on the carpet, or that she deliberately dumped all her cheerios onto the bowling alley carpet early on in the game and we had to throw them away, or maybe it was just being passed around like a bowling ball to whoever wasn't taking a turn! She didn't cry, but she was not too happy about having to be held by different people.  Usually she loves this sorta thing, so I think she was still bitter that we wouldn't let her eat her dirty cheerios.

The Dickinson family plus Charlotte.  Emma was so sweet and loved to make Charlotte smile and laugh.
This was pre-Cheerios dumping.  See Charlotte is sorta smiling because she knows Jenny from the nursery at church, and she still has some cheerios to eat.
This was post Cheerios dumping.  Ryan was so sweet to Charlotte, trying to get her to smile by being silly and she wasn't having any of it.  We call this her attitude face.

Trey had so much bowling! If it wasn't his turn (which was often with 6 kids in one lane!) he could be found standing next to the ball return.  He did a much better job this year of just watching the balls come back and not getting too close to the part that popped out the balls.  But as soon as the blue one would pop up he would go stand next to it and make sure it was in the right place.
Making sure the blue bowling ball is in the right place.
Waiting for Daddy to bring the bowling ball over.
Daddy helped Trey line up his shot down the ramp.

Halfway through the game some kiddos were getting restless.  One dad got fries for them to share.  It was the only time they were all sitting down!

Peek-a-boo!

Where's Charlotte?
Peek-a-boo! There you are!

Silly Faces with Charlotte

One more time. Where's Charlotte?

Peek-a-boo! There you are silly girl!

Egg Hunt

Last Sunday we had Easter dinner at our house with an egg hunt for the kids. Last year Trey did an egg hunt at my parent's house, but he didn't really get what we were doing. This year he was all about finding some eggs! In fact, we spent the rest of Spring Break hiding eggs around the house for him to find. Between their Easter baskets, Easters baskets from Uncle Mark, and some toy buckets we had already, there were eggs in all kinds of baskets all week.

Charlotte wanted down so she could get those eggs!

"Like my basket?"

She quickly caught onto the idea that you pick up an egg
and put in the basket
and cheer "Yay!" for yourself.

This is pretty much how Trey moved the whole egg hunt.

Dinner Time Tunes

For your viewing pleasure. Please ignore the crumbs on the table, half eaten muffin, and purple cup of milk.

This was about the 10th round of the song at the dinner table. Jay and I were laughing hysterically and decided to pull out Jay's phone to capture the moment since he kept singing it over and over. The performance was starting to take it out of him as he gets a little winded at the end :)

Blue Birthday Party: Part 2

Trey loves to help me scoop my grains, so we thought a water table would be a perfect birthday gift. He could scoop water, play outside, and stay cool all at the same time.

The water table was a hit with everyone.
Although some got a little bit more soaked than others.

Charlotte and Sadie are such sweet friends. Well, they mostly ignore each other and let their parents take pictures of them beside each other. Someday they will thank us.
Trey was so excited about his birthday cake. I told Jay this was the 3rd cake we have done for him, and if he didn't eat this one he wouldn't get another :) Not really serious, but he just isn't a cake person. Now cookies and ice cream, they are more his thing. Nonetheless, he was super excited about his blue cake made for him.

He tried to start singing "Happy Birthday" to himself before we all came into the dining room. He knew what this birthday stuff was about!
Waiting so patiently for the cake to be cut up and served!
Sure enough, he ate about 2 or 3 bites of the whole thing. I think we may do an ice cream or cookie cake in the future.
After cake and ice cream it was back outside for more fun!

Trey got this really cool rocket for his birthday. He LOVES it. The best part is he can shoot the rockets, retrieve them, and put them back on the stand all by himself. He, Chandler and Tucker learned all about taking turns. My favorite part of this picture is the water gun. As soon as the water gun was unwrapped it never left Chandler's hand! No matter what he did the rest of the day, he held onto that (empty) water gun!

Charlotte got her second dress just as soaked as her first!
We were so glad it was a nice day to be outside and celebrate Trey's birthday.

Blue Birthday Party: Part 1

On Saturday, March 31st, we had Trey's 3rd birthday party. Whenever I asked him what kind of birthday party he wanted he kept saying a blue party. Not the blue from Blue's Clues because he has never seen that show, but blue as in the color blue. When I asked if he wanted a Mickey Mouse Party (his current obsession) he kept insisting he wanted a blue party, so that's what he got.

We had fun decorating with blue stuff. Blue M & M's and gummy bears, blue balloons, and a blue art table.

The homemade cake was blue, too.

I got this cookie idea from a friend who did it for her daughter's first birthday. I used blue food coloring gel to get a vibrant shade of blue.
We started off the party with blue play-doh.

Then it was time for the snacks. Trey hasn't eaten a lot of food with icing before so it was a new adventure for him.

Chandler is not sure why Trey is having such a hard time. He shows him how it is done!

After snacks it was present time!

Trey was a little slow so his friends helped him out.
Part 2 with the water table and eating cake is coming soon!
