First Field Trip

Last week Trey had his first field trip at a local gymnastics place.  The nice things about being a class of four year olds is that "practicing gross motor skills" is a very important objective for the class so you can take field trips to fun places that don't involve just walking around looking at stuff.  Jay met his class at the gym so he was able to get some great videos and photos.

They had to listen to directions inside their hula hoop.

Trey liked the big balance beam.

Even though this picture is blurry, I love his smile when he jumps!

Trey really got into the ribbon streamers.

This is one giant trampoline that all the kids got to take a turn jumping on.

Jay got a picture of Trey getting on the bus to go back to school.  It had started to rain outside and he felt the raindrops on his head.
Each kids got to go through an obstacle course with various equipment.  Here is the video of Trey doing the obstacle course.  Sorry for the shaky camera work :)

Family Fishing Day

Today our church held their annual "Family Fishing Day."  We met up at the church this morning then went out to a church member's farm.  They have a pond on their farm that was the perfect fishing spot!

Ready to head out to the pond.
We got to ride on a hayride through the fields to get to the pond.
Daddy showing Trey how to work the fishing pole.  You can tell the first thing they got when they arrived at the pond was a blow pop, making two handed fishing a little hard during the morning!

He got the hang of it pretty fast!

Trey's first catch.

This is the closest he would get to the fish!
Charlotte didn't mind touching Trey's fish at all!

Charlotte was patiently waiting for a fish to bite her line, but she wasn't having much luck.
Mr. Mayhew had a fish on his line and was looking for a kid that hadn't caught a fish to reel it in.  Charlotte walked right over to him and was eager to "catch" the fish.
She was very excited about touching her fish and started to tear up when Mr. Mayhew said we had to put the fish back in the water.  We explained why the fish had to go back to the water and then she was okay.
The Three Fishermen
At the end of the day they gathered all the kids up for prizes.  They gave out prizes in the elementary age category for the kids who caught the most fish.  Then they gave out a prize for the youngest girl and youngest boy to catch a fish.  Charlotte was very excited when her name was called and she got to go up and get her new fishing pole for being the youngest girl there to catch a fish.
Charlotte with all the other prize winners at the pond.

The church did a wonderful job of organizing the event and providing a yummy cookout lunch at the pond to break up the fishing.  I am so glad this is an annual event so we can come back again!

Labor Day Weekend

We traveled to Richmond to visit my family for Labor Day Weekend.  We all had a wonderful time relaxing and spending time together.  The kids love to play with their cousins.  On Saturday morning we went over for some water play to cool off in the hot weather!

Watching the water slide get set up

Trey loves their play set.

Charlotte isn't spoiled by her older cousins at all!

Chandler is very brave and has no fear!

Charlotte watched the boys a few times then she was ready to tackle the water slide.

She loved it!

Trey was a little skeptical of the sprinkler getting the slide wet, so he liked to wait until it was spraying away from the slide.

Every time he went down he got up with a big smile!

Charlotte went shopping on Saturday evening with her Nana and Mommy.  She loved trying on shoes and got her heart set on these boots.  She told me, "Mommy, I don't want brown boots, I want pink boots!"  She came away with two pairs of pink shoes for the fall/winter.
