Happy Birthday Trey!

Today Trey turns three! I guess that moves him into the "preschooler" category and out of the "toddler" category. This year was such a big one for Trey. He talks now NON. STOP. and I love to hear and understand everything he is saying, even when he is telling me something is not fair.

Trey still has such a sweet and loving personality. If Charlotte starts to cry he goes and rubs her back and says, "It's okay Charlotte, Trey's here now." He is concerned about how you are feeling and asks you if you feel happy or tired. He is also a man with a plan and likes to know what we are doing, the order we are doing things in, and will let you know which direction to go out the driveway to get to our destination. "Take a left to go to Kroger now. After we go to Kroger we go to church...."

He continues to be an extremely picky eater and I think the only new things he eats this year are hot dogs and chicken tenders. He has also started to abandon some of his favorites, so I am a little worried he will have to survive on milk, peanut butter crackers, and bananas alone. We just keep putting new things on his plate and hoping someday he may branch out to new foods.

Trey's favorite thing to do is to play outside. He could wander for hours outside running around the yard with a stick. The stick can become a fishing pole, a sword, a flashlight or anything else he needs. He loves to play pretend and I am amazed at the crazy stories he creates.

Trey still enjoys reading books. Only now he wants to read them to you. He has memorized most of his favorite books, The Giving Tree, Brown Bear, Brown Bear and many Dr. Seuss stories. When he goes to bed he likes to read one book to you and then you read one book to him. Both his parents love to read so I hope he will always find pleasure in books.

Trey goes to choir at church on Wednesday nights. He has learned lots of new songs and talks about all his friends when he comes home. Deep and Wide has been sung many times at the house and Charlotte even knows the motions from watching Trey! He also enjoys singing My God is So Big and The Lord's Army.

Of course I would be remiss if I forget to mention that this past year Trey has found television. He wasn't at all interested in watching tv until this past fall, but now he can name every character from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and he also can sing the theme song from Veggie Tales.

Oh Trey, watching you grow from a baby to a toddler to now a little boy has been so much fun for your mommy and daddy. We can't wait to see how much more you learn and grow! We pray Luke 2:52 over you that you continue "to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."
