October Thoughts

Trey still absolutely loves school.  Last week we had Red Ribbon Week, which is a week to promote being healthy and drug free.  The kids had to dress up each day.  Trey's favorites were hat day and boot day.  He kept asking me what he had to wear to school today as I tried to explain that he could wear anything, there was no special clothing day anymore.

He also likes to redo his school day at home.  This afternoon he was playing in the garage with Charlotte and he had a notebook on his lap.  He kept asking her if she packed her lunch today or if she was going to buy her lunch.  Charlotte (not having been to school yet) didn't understand what Trey was talking about so he asked Jay instead.  This is how the converation went.

Trey: Daddy, are you buying lunch today or did you pack your lunch?
Jay: I packed my lunch.
Trey:  Ok, show me your lunch box (obviously something his teacher does to make sure the kids actually have a lunch!).
Jay:  I can't find it.
Trey: It is in the top shelf of your cubby.
Jay: I can't reach it.
Trey: (with a sigh) Fine, then you will have to buy your lunch today.  Would you like hamburger or pizza or donuts?

I would like to mention that donuts were not offered to me as a choice when I was playing, nor are they offered at our school for lunch!

Charlotte is obsessed with stickers right now.  Somehow she left her band aid obsession behind and has moved onto stickers.  She will sit for over an hour and peel stickers to put on paper.  Jay and I don't think she has ever done the same thing for over an hour in her entire life (except sleeping at night!).

Charlotte is also slightly obsessed with Dora.  As is the pattern in her life she either loves something to the extreme, or hates it.  Right now she loves Dora.  At night she chooses the Dora theme song as her song pick to sing and only wants to wear her Dora pajamas, which becomes a problem when I don't do laundry every other day!

Trey and Charlotte are dressing up as the Big Bad Wolf and Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween.  I thought this was an adorable idea until their costumes arrived in a package from Nana yesterday.  Trey put on his wolf outfit and kept howling at Charlotte and pretending to come after her and eat her.  She retaliated by pulling hard on his tail.  Luckily the tail did not come off because I am not sure I have the ability to sew the tail back on like Nana would!
