Family Fishing Day

Today our church held their annual "Family Fishing Day."  We met up at the church this morning then went out to a church member's farm.  They have a pond on their farm that was the perfect fishing spot!

Ready to head out to the pond.
We got to ride on a hayride through the fields to get to the pond.
Daddy showing Trey how to work the fishing pole.  You can tell the first thing they got when they arrived at the pond was a blow pop, making two handed fishing a little hard during the morning!

He got the hang of it pretty fast!

Trey's first catch.

This is the closest he would get to the fish!
Charlotte didn't mind touching Trey's fish at all!

Charlotte was patiently waiting for a fish to bite her line, but she wasn't having much luck.
Mr. Mayhew had a fish on his line and was looking for a kid that hadn't caught a fish to reel it in.  Charlotte walked right over to him and was eager to "catch" the fish.
She was very excited about touching her fish and started to tear up when Mr. Mayhew said we had to put the fish back in the water.  We explained why the fish had to go back to the water and then she was okay.

At the end of the day they gathered all the kids up for prizes.  They gave out prizes in the elementary age category for the kids who caught the most fish.  Then they gave out a prize for the youngest girl and youngest boy to catch a fish.  Charlotte was very excited when her name was called and she got to go up and get her new fishing pole for being the youngest girl there to catch a fish.

The church did a wonderful job of organizing the event and providing a yummy cookout lunch at the pond to break up the fishing.  I am so glad this is an annual event so we can come back again!
