November

If October was super busy, we spent the month of November slowing down our pace a bit.

Krispy Kreme opened up a new location in Roanoke and we were excited to go get some hot donuts their first weekend open!

 Esther starting crawling and there was no stopping her from getting into everything!

The girls got to wear their turkey dresses to get ready for Thanksgiving!

Over Thanksgiving we went to Richmond and Esther got to meet her future college roommate Haddie.

 The kids wanted to help decorate our house for fall so they cut out leaves and taped them to the windows with painters tape.  The original plan had been to write one thing you are thankful for on a leaf each day, but the kids took over and made it their own project.

Trey had a turkey family project for school.  Every student got a picture of a turkey that they had to turn into something else.  Trey turned his turkey into a computer.

We also traveled to Richmond one weekend so the kids could see their great-grandfather.  The last time we saw Granddaddy and Nancy, Trey was 3 months old.  They knew great-granddaddy lived in Florida from Trey's U.S.A. puzzle and were excited to meet him and his wife Nancy.  We got to take some family photos of everyone together.

Flower Girl Debut

When my cousin, Nellie, got married in July Charlotte was the flower girl.  She loved wearing the dress Nana made and being in the front.  She was just cute enough, without stealing the show from the bride!

Pumpkin Patch and Halloween

Every year our Sunday School class does a family outing to a local pumpkin patch.  Even though we go to the same place each year, there are always new things to do!

On Halloween we rushed to beat the rain and cold that was headed our way.  I got the kids dressed after school then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's to trick or treat and to our church to go trunk or treating.  Trey was a pumpkin, Charlotte was Strawberry Shortcake and Esther was a strawberry.

October 2014

October was a very busy month for our family.  Trey finished up his soccer season, Jay's brother got married, and we spent a lot of our time traveling and visiting family.  When we were home, we enjoying being outside in the evenings playing in the leaves.

Soccer

This past fall Trey played his first sport, rec league soccer.  The team was made up of 5 and 6 year olds from our community.  Trey had a great first experience with sports.  It took a few practices and games for him to go from just playing around to actually following the ball, but he learned a ton and enjoyed the experience of being a part of a team.

1st Day of School

School starts early around here so the beginning of August we were getting together our school supplies and ready to head back for the new year!

We made a Target run for supplies and lunch boxes.  I decided to forgo the tax free weekend and shop a bit earlier so we had more selection and it was less crowded.

The week before teachers went back to school, the kids came with me for a few hours to set up my classroom.  The life of teacher's kids!

Trey started kindergarten this year and he absolutely loves it.  This year he has learned so much and watching him learn to read is such a joy!

Charlotte goes to preschool two days a week.  Her favorite part is the crafts and she loves going to school like a big kid!

Beach Trip 2014

The zero degree temps this morning combined with the fourth snow day in a row leave me some extra time to catch up on the blog and wish for summer! 

Last summer we went back to Atlantic Beach for a week.  The kids were so excited about the beach because they remember all the fun things from the year before.  Esther was underwhelmed by her first ocean sighting, but overall it was a great trip.
